    This production is based on the Korean bestselling novel “Almond,” which has been translated and published in 30 countries worldwide, selling over 1.5 million copies, and selected for the Japan Booksellers’ Award and Amazon’s “Book of the Month.” Upon its Korean premiere in 2022, it topped the reservation rankings as soon as ticket sales opened, proving both its artistic merit and commercial appeal.
    Sixteen-year-old Yoonjae has a small “almond” (amygdala) in his brain, making it difficult for him to feel emotions. On his 16th birthday, Christmas Eve, a sudden tragic accident takes the lives of his family in an instant, leaving him orphaned. Before him appears Gon, a boy filled with rage from the scars of his childhood. The story follows the journey of Yoonjae, a “monster” devoid of emotions, and Gon, a “monster” who cannot control them, as they grow and change through each other.
    The solid narrative of the original work is enriched by the lyrical music of a six-piece live band, convincingly portraying the two boys’ journey toward genuine understanding and empathy.
